この度 SOM GALLERY は、シロヤマユリカ による新作個展「Yolk」を、日本橋馬喰横山にて開催いたします。本展はシロヤマにとって自身 2回目の個展となります。
シロヤマは東京都出身のイラストレーター、アーティストです。
武蔵野美術大学でグラフィックデザインを学んだ後にニューヨークに渡り、現在は東京を拠点にアーティストとして、自身の作品制作にも重きを置いて活動しています。
本展においてシロヤマは、実際に目にした日常の何気ない時間と空間を素材に、思考やドローイングを交え、新たなビジュアルを作ります。
例えば作品「Mayonnaise」では、一見窓際に配置されたただの机と椅子のようですが、椅子の上に置かれた卵や、椅子の足と同じ形を模した花瓶、また、デジタルツールを駆使して構成された色の配置などから、無意識に私達はそれぞれの関係性を問おうとします。
一方で、作品「Aquarium」では彼女が日々描いているドローイングを具現化させたような色と動きを加えた新しいシリーズです。
このように本展ではそれぞれの作品が全く違うシーンを行き来します。
これはイラストレーターとしての経験を活かしたシロヤマならではの実験と挑戦と捉えることができます。
今回の展覧会において、シロヤマはキャンバスペインティング約 15点と毎日日課として描き続けているドローイング作品数十点を発表する予定です。

SOM GALLERY is delighted to announce Yurika Shiroyama's second solo exhibition, titled “Yolk,” at Bakuro Yokoyama in Tokyo.
Shiroyama is an illustrator and artist hailing from Tokyo, Japan. She studied graphic design at Musashino Art University in Tokyo and has also resided in New York. Currently based in Tokyo, she has been working as an illustrator while also pursuing her own artwork as an artist.
In "Yolk," Shiroyama presents new visuals that she created using materials from her everyday life and the spaces she sees around her. Her works convey her thoughts and drawings and offer a unique perspective on ordinary objects and scenes. For instance, in the artwork "Mayonnaise," what initially appears to be a simple desk and chair by a window becomes a thought-provoking piece when one novices the egg on the chair, the vase that imitates the shape of the chair's legs, and the color composition created using digital tools. In contrast, the "Aquarium," the new series, adds color and movement to Shiroyama's everyday drawings to bring them to life.
Each artwork in the exhibition depicts a different scene, representing Shiroyama's willingness to experiment and challenge herself. This approach reflects her past experiences, as well as her dedication to her craft.
The exhibition features 15 canvas paintings and dozens of drawings that Shiroyama created as part of her daily routine. We invite you to come and experience her unique artistic vision firsthand.
